FOUNDERS / PATRONS OF THE NEW CLUB
Huge thanks to all those Resurrectionists (founder members) who helped us to put the new Club on a firm financial footing. The Resurrectionist Roll of Honour closed on 31 December, and we hope to have all their names engraved on a suitably funereal plaque ready for display at the next Wake.
- In case anyone is puzzled: -
- A dirger is a mourner who attends a wake and follows the corpse from home to church
- A wake is the watching of a corpse overnight.
- A lyke way is the path by which a corpse was moved from its domicile to church.
- A resurrectionist is an 18C bodysnatcher who removed bodies for medical schools
